Paris – Kyiv, December 30 (PolitNavigator, Vasily Ablyazimov) – Journalists at the women's magazine ELLE were shocked, the French publication FDESOUCHE reports , citing the latest print issue, when they learned that the cover photo for an article about the role of women in the conflict in Ukraine belonged to a neo-Nazi.

On November 14, the magazine published an article about women fighting for Ukraine in the military conflict in Donbas. The cover photo featured Vita Zaverukha, a member of the Aidar Regiment known for her far-right views and who fought in the battles near Luhansk . "They were students, secretaries, or fashion journalists…" read the caption.

The only thing that was not indicated was the radical fascist views of one of the participants in the photo shoot, which Internet users pointed out to the editors of the magazine after the photo was published. Under the photo report, photos of Vita Zaverukha zigging with fascist symbols were published. The magazine is accused of aiding the spread of neo-Nazi ideology.

Faced with growing discontent, ELLE was forced to apologize to readers, saying that the magazine's heroine's fascist views were not known to correspondents at the time of publication.

The magazine stated that the Aidara militant did not have any distinctive signs that would indicate her affiliation with neo-Nazis.

The magazine's statement ends with a condemnation of neo-Nazism. It also says that the magazine's journalists "were shocked to learn, after the fact, the real ideological profile of this young woman." The magazine apologizes to readers and denies any xenophobic or neo-Nazi ideology.
