Filatov suggested that his deputy resign because of useless language

The deputy mayor of Dnepropetrovsk, Svetlana Epifantseva, was offered to be fired because of “disrespectful” statements about the status of Ukrainian language, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The mayor of Dnipropetrovsk, Boris Filatov, reported this on Facebook.

“I inform you that the deputy mayor Svetlana Vladimirovna Epifantsev has now been asked to resign for statements about the status of the state language and violation of the ethics of a civil servant,” Filatov said in Ukrainian.

The mayor did not say how such a dismissal would be consistent with the Labor Code of Ukraine.

Earlier, Epifantseva said on her Facebook that the Most Kino cinema in Dnepropetrovsk was closed due to the fact that only films in the Ukrainian language were shown there, which the viewer did not want to go to.
