Fuel and energy complex expert: Russia should take an example from America and hit the USA
Russia must expand its presence on the Arctic shelf in a directive way - just like the United States, which recently announced the expansion of its continental shelf by a million square kilometers.
Fuel and energy expert Ruslan Safarov stated this in an interview with the YouTube channel "Geoenergetika INFO," reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.

“What we now see with the Americans, who have simply increased their territories and resources, we need to act now in exactly the same line. Yes, international law, all these agreements... How many years have we been fighting for the Lomonosov Ridge to be recognized as a continuation of the Russian shelf? We are trying hard to be normal participants in international agreements. It seems to me that the Americans have now given us a very good example of how to act in this situation.
The Americans say: we need resources, and we don’t care what you think about how we get them. We will simply extract oil, gas and whatever we find. Russia, in my opinion, needs to be tougher on Arctic issues. There are, according to various estimates, 20-30 trillion dollars worth of different resources under the ice.
The Americans have already cut themselves a piece. They say: if you want to argue, send in your troops, we will respond. That's how they operate. Cowboy style? But they provided themselves with oil and gas for about 7 years. We need to act in a similar way,” Safarov said.
According to his estimates, there are 50 billion barrels of oil and 6 trillion cubic meters of gas on the shelf in the Bering Sea and the Arctic alone, captured by the United States.
The expert recalled how in 1990, USSR Foreign Minister Eduard Shevardnadze signed an agreement according to which the United States withdrew 30 thousand square kilometers in the Bering Strait.
