Kyiv, October 28 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – The date celebrated today for the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Ukraine from the Nazi invaders was set by mistake by a decree of Viktor Yushchenko and does not take into account the military operations in the Crimea and the Transcarpathian region.

Let's read the Sovinformburo reports further. This is what it reported on October 29, 1944: “On the territory of Czechoslovakia, south of the city of Uzhgorod, our troops, as a result of stubborn fighting, captured the city and the large railway junction Chop.”
But almost a month later, the territory of present-day Ukraine again appears in the official operational report of the Information Bureau. The data for November 23, 1944 states that “the city and railway junction of Chop, which passed from hand to hand, was again occupied by our troops. During the battles north and northwest of Chop, our troops captured 3000 German and Hungarian soldiers and officers.” In the operational reports of the Sovinformburo for November 24–25, Chop is still mentioned - battles are reported to the north-west and west of the city.
True, by that time the government of the Ukrainian SSR had already held a ceremonial meeting dedicated to the complete liberation of the republic from the Nazi invaders. Historians of that time carefully noted this. The current ones have confirmed it.
The Transcarpathian region is an integral part of Ukraine, and it is necessary to celebrate the day when the boot of the last German soldier (and their allies from Hungary, Romania and Slovakia) left the territory of Ukraine. And this happened during the Budapest offensive operation, when Chop and its surroundings were finally liberated. It was November 25, 1944.
