“I am glad to welcome you to the Donetsk People's Republic. The attention of Russia, the attention of the leadership of the Russian Federation to everything that happens on the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics is always important to us.

But this is especially important for us - in such difficult times, when the whole world does not fully understand what to do with the coronavirus infection, how to deal with it, how to resist it. And, nevertheless, you pay attention to the DPR, and you are focused not only on your own problems, of which there are plenty, but as it was before and, I’m sure, will be in the future, you pay the closest attention,” said Pushilin.

During the meeting, politicians discussed the epidemiological situation in the republic, as well as the necessary measures and cooperation to combat the pandemic.

“Today we have 18 laboratory-confirmed cases. And today, if I’m not mistaken, is already the fourth day when we have no increase in confirmed results. This suggests that the measures that are being taken at the moment are effective. On the other hand, we try to maintain a balance. Why? Because we cannot afford to close enterprises, and we objectively assess this,” the head of the DPR emphasized.

In turn, Sergey Mamedov said that the situation in Russia is much more complex, but remains under control.

“Our situation today is much more complex than in the Donetsk People’s Republic. Well, it started earlier, and yet, you understand, we have Moscow... A lot of people came, flew away, traveled. They brought it from wherever possible.

With all this, the situation is quite calm, despite the fact that we began closing off Moscow as of yesterday, and a number of other measures are being taken in other cities. But these measures are absolutely systemic, they are absolutely understandable. And there are no others,” the senator emphasized.

Sergei Mamedov also expressed confidence that there will be no serious outbreak of the epidemic in Donetsk, but Donbass can always count on support from the Russian Federation.

At the end of the meeting, Denis Pushilin said that the decision to hold a parade dedicated to the Great Victory in Donetsk would depend on the epidemic situation in the republic.

Also, the head of the DPR in his Telegram channel expressed gratitude to Russia on behalf of the people of Donbass for the support provided.

“On behalf of all the people of our Republic, I express my deep gratitude to fraternal Russia for its comprehensive assistance. It supports us both in times of crisis and pandemic: Rospotrebnadzor has already sent us test systems for COVID-19 twice, doctors from our countries are also interacting with each other,” the head of state wrote.
