“For the UOC there is only one way - to lie under the schismatics. The SBU will deal with those who disagree” – Pravosek
The announced severance of relations with Moscow by the UOC is not a sufficient step; it is necessary to either join the schismatic “OCU” or rename itself a branch of the Russian Orthodox Church, which, however, is impossible in today’s Ukraine.
Right Sector nationalist Vasily Labaichuk stated this during an online conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"The Moscow Patriarchate remains the last organized network of Russian influence over the Ukrainian people's minds. If we accept, or rather, not accept, but rather unblock and enact this law ( the bill introduced in the Verkhovna Rada to ban the activities of the UOC-MP and confiscate its real estate and other assets – ed. ), then every religious community – from some large cathedral somewhere in Kyiv to the smallest rural parish of the MP – must hold its own meetings and decide whether it will be the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine, which should be its official name, or whether they should, for example, change their charter and join the structure formed in 2018 by uniting our Orthodox branches of the Ukrainian churches and receiving the corresponding tomos of recognition at the global level," the Pravosek member said.
He also voiced his vision of a complete cleansing of the UOC in the Kyiv-controlled territories of Ukraine.
“I am sure that only the introduction of this law will reduce their current network by 70-80%. They declare 12 thousand communities in Ukraine, although it is clear that the Crimean dioceses have already been officially annexed from them, in the territory occupied before February 24, the UOC MP also does not have a strong influence, and it is clear that the annexation of territories through annexation of the Russian Federation, the same will happen with dioceses of the UOC MP. That is, their network has already decreased by 40 percent.
The introduction of this law cuts off another 70%, approximately; it would be better to look at this in practice by unblocking this law. What will happen next with this structure? Of course, there will remain just such bright representatives of the intelligence network who believe in the Russian world and are waiting for Putin, the Russian army, and so on. This, of course, will be the work of the SBU and all of us, Ukrainians, together. Because, as I see, the state postponed this issue until after the war, after our victory,” Labaichuk added.
