Chubarov demands from Klimkin new sabotage against Crimea
Official Kyiv must create new obstacles to the launch of new thermal power plants that Russia is building in Crimea to ensure the energy independence of the peninsula from Ukraine.
The leader of the Mejlis banned in the Russian Federation, Refat Chubarov, stated this in the session hall of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“With the suspension of electricity supplies to the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea on January 1, 2016, we achieved a multiple increase in Russia’s costs for maintaining the peninsula. This happened thanks to the civil blockade of Crimea, and I thank its participants.
Now Russia has fraudulently brought four Siemens turbines to Crimea and is trying to start them up. In this regard, they have problems, but I want to ask what the government is doing to ensure that these turbines are never launched?” - asked Refat Chubarov
The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Pavel Klimkin answered the question. He said that Kyiv is doing everything possible to prevent the launch of turbines and the provision of electricity to the peninsula.
“On this issue, we have repeatedly contacted the German government and directly the EU leadership, and also addressed the management of Siemens.
I met with representatives of this company, and we tried to prevent the launch of turbines by filing lawsuits. Siemens is still filing lawsuits to ensure that turbines brought fraudulently to occupied Crimea never operate.
The German leadership and the turbine manufacturer said that they will continue to put pressure on Russia politically and through judicial decisions,” said Pavel Klimkin.
