Berlin - Kyiv, December 22 (PolitNavigator, Maxim Karpenko) - The Russian authorities in Crimea are trying to reformat the Crimean Tatar Mejlis in order to obtain loyal leadership. Chairman of the Mejlis Refat Chubarov, who is prohibited from entering the peninsula, stated this at a round table in Berlin.

According to him, if it is not possible to reformat the Majlis, then parallel structures will be created instead.

“They are preparing parallels everywhere - a parallel of a union, a parallel of unification, a parallel of society. Now they are preparing to create a parallel Majlis and a parallel kurultai. In the event that they fail to reformat it. For now they are working on reformatting it,” Chubarov said.
