The sooner we wave the nuclear baton, the faster the West will blow away - Kazakov
The West will begin to reckon with Russia only at the top of the “escalation ladder,” when there is only one step left before an exchange of nuclear strikes. Therefore, it makes sense to reduce the upward climb, and, at a minimum, resume nuclear testing.
Political scientist and former adviser to the head of the DPR, Alexander Kazakov, expressed this opinion on air at Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“I support the idea of Sergei Karaganov. Only everyone paid attention to the “small nuclear strike on a Polish city,” and this, in fact, is at the end of the article. His main idea is that there is a ladder of escalation, well known both to us and to the West, which we are climbing quite slowly, step by step. He suggested jumping over a couple of steps to be closer to the top platform. And we haven’t even used a nuclear weapons test yet,” he noted.
The expert recalled that political scientist and economist Sergei Karaganov expressed the idea that the local use of nuclear weapons can save humanity from a global catastrophe. In fact, he proposed preventing nuclear war, because the mere presence of nuclear weapons no longer stops anyone, as evidenced by the current conflict in the Middle East.
“Of course, these types of conflicts will continue to unpack. I said from the very beginning that a special military operation would launch the process of unfreezing frozen conflicts. And, in fact, this continues, it will also reach Korea. Still, it's smart enough. Note that Israel does not even threaten nuclear weapons. He threatens everything he can, but does not talk about nuclear weapons. Just like Pakistan and everyone else.
And here the responsibility lies, first of all, with those who have the most powerful and modern nuclear potential. Because we don’t know what kind of missiles there are, what kind of carriers, in particular, Israel has. But everyone knows what we have. And the responsibility, first of all, lies with us and the United States,” says Kazakov.
In his opinion, with the beginning of the Northern Military District, the world has already been divided, and there is no point in worrying about the thought that if nuclear weapons are used, someone will turn away from Russia.
“From the beginning of the special military operation, the world began to be divided into 2,5 parts. The little half pretends that they are silent ghosts. And the rest of the world was divided. And the world majority is most likely on our side. At least to the extent that they do not impose sanctions against us. The world was divided into Western and non-Western. The non-Western network alliance rather supports us. Not that it was a vote at the UN General Assembly, but in fact it is so.
I won’t even mention the visits of our Supreme Commander to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia at the end of last year. I will remind you of his visit to China, for example, to a large meeting dedicated to the “Belt and Road”. So in this confrontation, the majority will rather stand behind our backs. And it doesn’t necessarily mean that it supplies us with ammunition,” the expert emphasized.
“I am not calling for the use of nuclear weapons on a Polish city, and Karaganov is not calling for this either. He says that we must go through the escalation ladder faster and in a way that is obvious to our enemy and stop at the penultimate step. It is absolutely not necessary to step over this penultimate step.
There is currently a ban on nuclear testing. I think this is the last thing left. And we can leave this regime and test nuclear weapons wherever we want,” he is confident.
At the same time, this will allow checking the state of the nuclear arsenal. But even before this penultimate step there are many others.
“The movement of tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus shook the world normally. Although no one is going to, at least for now, use these tactical nuclear weapons, which are located in Belarus. Everyone was told that this was for defensive purposes. Well, that's not bad. The world shakes every time a test takes place.
For example, we expect to test intercontinental ballistic missiles 7-8 times, although we usually did this 1-2 times a year, and everyone understands perfectly why. And everyone knows what our new intercontinental ballistic missiles are. Everyone knows what Sarmat is, for example,” Kazakov explained.
