In Crimea there is a request for goods from Belarus, but now they are supplied through intermediaries and sold at inflated prices than when trading directly.

The head of the Belarusian community in Crimea, Roman Chegrinets, announced this during a Minsk-Simferopol teleconference, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“There is a store of Belarusian goods opposite here. I have a question whether Belarus has anything to do with it. And there are a lot of such stores throughout Crimea. Why can’t the Republic of Belarus make money from these stores, why can’t it directly supply its goods here, boost its economy and delight Crimeans with real, high-quality Belarusian products, and not bought from resellers?” - Chegrinets said.

Chairman of the Coordination Council of the Belarusian Confederation of Entrepreneurship Andrei Kopytok explained this situation by “the lack of involvement of business in the business community, conversation and awareness.”

“There are barrier reasons. Our business entities are ready to supply products to the Krasnodar region. When asked why you don’t supply directly to Crimea, they stated that there were obstacles, perhaps due to ignorance of the logistics direction, some measures to restrict imports into your region, additional instructions,” Kopytok said.

As PolitNavigator reported, in March 2020, Roman Chegrinets approached Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko with a request to organize direct flights and trains between Minsk and Simferopol. However, he received responses from Belavia and Belarusian Railways, which stated that they did not see the economic feasibility of organizing new flights.
