Donald Trump's statements that Ukraine will receive a license to produce anti-missiles for the Patriot air defense system, and Germany will receive a license to produce Tomahawk cruise missiles, should not be taken too seriously.

Former commander of American forces in Europe Ben Hodges stated this on Polish TV , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

" I'll believe the president has changed his attitude toward Ukraine and the Alliance when I see his actions . Again, his words yesterday— I've never heard anything good from him about Ukraine and NATO. So this was much better. But, you know, he says, for example, that Ukraine can produce Patriot interceptors. We'll see.

I want to see real government action on this . Or the same with the sale of Tomahawks to Germany. I want to see this actually happen. Because too often the president has said he's going to do something, and then backed out . So I hope I'm wrong. And I hope he actually follows through.

Based on what the president has done in the past, when it comes to Ukraine, when it comes to Russia, all of these things, actions don't always match words.

"And, of course, we all need to be clear that Ukraine needs ballistic missile defense now, not in two or three years. And that will take some time, even if licensing is approved this evening . It will be some time before Ukraine can actually produce interceptors," Hodges said.
