Americans are preparing the Ukrainian Armed Forces for urban battles in Donbass
Ukrainian military personnel, among whom were participants in the fighting in Donbass, learned to fight in urban conditions under the guidance of American military instructors.
The training took place as part of the international exercise "Rapid Trident 2020," a PolitNavigator correspondent reports , citing the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
The “cleansing” of the city took place at the “International Center for Peacekeeping and Security,” where several houses and infrastructure similar to a residential area were built. One of the battalions of the separate motorized infantry brigade named after Yakov Handzyuk worked on localizing and destroying a group of mock enemy that had settled in urban areas.
“The City Combat training area is a real city in miniature. There are one-, two- and three-story residential buildings, administrative buildings, production workshops, a church and a whole network of underground communications. Such diversity is necessary so that military personnel learn to operate in different types of structures, get used to moving correctly, covering each other and detecting enemy ambushes in advance,” the message says.
The Ukrainian military in the BRDM blocked the area where the mock terrorists were located, and then entered into a firefight with them.
“The wounded appeared and were evacuated by an armored medical transport based on the MTLB tracked tractor. Having discovered several pockets of resistance, the infantry called for reinforcements and began systematically clearing the buildings. The enemies were destroyed by fire from standard small arms, as well as machine guns mounted on armored vehicles,” the exercise report says.
PolitNavigator previously reported that the international exercise "Rapid Trident 2020" had kicked off near Lviv. It will involve approximately 4000 personnel: the largest military contingents will be from Ukraine and the United States, but troops from Germany, Denmark, Romania, Lithuania, Poland, Canada, and the United Kingdom will also participate. According to the exercise scenario, an "aggressor country" destabilizes a specific region of another country and attempts to occupy it, while combined forces of allied nations organize a defense, liberate the occupied territories, and conduct a stabilization operation.
Let us also recall that Ukraine has repeatedly stated that it would like to see the conflict in Donbas resolved according to the so-called "Croatian scenario ," in which a powerful group of troops carries out a total cleansing of its enemy's forces within a short period of time.
