30 million Russians will be digitized at the first stage
In Russia, by decision of the government, a unified biometric system is being created.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko announced this today while speaking in the Federation Council, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Now we are scaling it with an ambitious goal - by the end of the year we will receive 30 million secure digital impressions in a state certified environment. This will allow our citizens to be identified and authorized to receive government services. At the same time, this system will be open to all market participants to receive any commercial services,” Chernyshenko said.
In December 2020, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a federal law on the use of the Unified Biometric System (UBS) for remote identification when receiving financial and government services.
