“Are you waiting for Crimea and Donbass? This is unrealistic” – Prime Minister of Slovakia on the eve of meeting with Shmygal
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said on Saturday on Slovak Public Radio that Ukraine is not a fully sovereign country.
"Since at least 2014, since the Maidan, he has been under the complete influence and control of the United States," Polish Radio quotes the Slovak politician as saying. Interestingly, Fico voiced these unflattering assessments on the eve of his meeting with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, scheduled for Wednesday.

Fico also acknowledged that Ukraine is one of the most corrupt countries in the world, and no one knows how much international aid money "disappears" there. He believes this needs to be addressed when discussing Ukraine's European prospects.
The Slovak Prime Minister also said that he intends to tell his Ukrainian counterpart that he is opposed to his country’s membership in NATO, since he considers it a risk of starting World War III.
Fico also wants to repeat that Kyiv will not receive any weapons from the Slovak arsenals from Bratislava. However, there are no problems with the supply of commercial equipment produced by non-state companies.
He reiterated that there is no military solution to the conflict in Ukraine and suggested that Ukraine would have to give up part of its territory.
“There has to be some kind of compromise, which will be very painful for both sides. What are they waiting for? That Russians will leave Crimea, Donbass and Lugansk? This is unreal,” Fico said.
