“Shut up and remain silent”: the crash of the Il-76 has put the West in a propaganda dead end - Koktysh
The lack of reaction from the West to the downed Il-76 with Ukrainian prisoners on board suggests that everyone is waiting for Washington’s manuals on how to correctly interpret this disaster. Simply calling black white will no longer work, so the easiest way is to remain silent.
Doctor of Political Science, Professor of the Department of Political Theory at MGIMO Kirill Koktysh expressed this opinion on air at Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The fact is that this is a case when the facts come into sharp contradiction with one’s own ideological public position. Because it is impossible to say that this is not a terrorist attack - it is a terrorist attack. That this can somehow be justified? No you can not. At the same time, can Zelensky be called guilty? It's also not possible. Can the Kyiv regime be called guilty? It's also not possible. That is, in this regard, European politicians will wait for guidelines, I will wait for instructions on how to react and what to say. First of all, of course, from Washington,” the expert believes.
According to him, Washington itself is in a difficult situation because, on the one hand, it is convenient - a world based on rules, not on law, means that the rules can be constantly changed. And this turned out to be a very enviable opportunity, but now it turns out that it is not possible.
“It’s not possible to change the rules so quickly and you can’t call white black and vice versa. Therefore, here, naturally, they will try to hush it all up and somehow put the brakes on it, based on the fact that there is such a principle - what was not said did not happen. Accordingly, we try not to introduce this into any of our public discourse.
Actually, there is no particular point in discussing Ukraine’s reaction, Zelensky’s reaction – all the options here are bad. If Zelensky says that this was an amateur action, then it is not clear by whom, and how Western weapons ended up there. That is, the scenario here is worse for him. Therefore, this weak bleating about an international investigation is an attempt to gain time and at least somehow try to talk about this topic. It will be difficult for you to chat, especially since there were Ukrainians prepared for the exchange on this plane. This has spread throughout Ukraine, and today Kiev has no idea how to stop this information, how to work with it,” concluded Koktysh.
