Zakharova harshly ridiculed Sobchak
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova laughed when asked to comment on presidential candidate Ksenia Sobchak's statement that she had asked the Ukrainian Embassy in Russia for permission to enter Russian Crimea.
According to the diplomat, this reminded her of the incident with US President George W. Bush, who at the UN Security Council wrote a note to his adviser Kandolisa Rise asking for permission to go to the toilet.

“Everyone asks permission on an issue that they consider relevant,” Zakharova said.
As PolitNavigator reported, Sobchak stated on Ekho Moskvy radio that she would only travel to the peninsula to campaign for Crimean Tatars if she received permission from the Ukrainian authorities. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin called her statements "political schizophrenia."
Moreover, Sobchak regretfully acknowledged that it would be unlikely to immediately return Crimea to Ukraine, and therefore additional work would be needed in this direction.
