Zakharova compared Ukrainian border guards with Somali pirates
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova called the detention of the Kerch fishing vessel “Nord” by Ukrainian border guards in the Sea of Azov a “provocation,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This is yet another provocative act by the Ukrainian authorities against Russian citizens. In relation to the crew of the ship, the Ukrainian border guards acted like Somali pirates. The crew had all the necessary documents to carry out fishing in the Azov Sea,” Zakharova told reporters today.
She believes that in this way Ukraine is taking revenge on Crimea for leaving for Russia.
“We view Ukraine’s actions as an attempt to take revenge on the residents of Crimea for their conscious choice to return to Russia. We demand the immediate release of the crew members and the return of the Nord vessel to its rightful owner,” Zakharova said.
