The blockade of Donbass by “ATO veterans” left the metallurgy and heat supply of Ukraine without coal. There are no funds in the budget to purchase fuel from third countries, and Ukraine’s transshipment capacities are simply not capable of accepting such a volume.
Yulia Tymoshenko is inciting Petro Poroshenko to launch an attack on Donbass, hoping that the military defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will lead to a change of power in Kyiv.

“Cutting off Ukraine from Donbass, not to mention Russia, is like sitting on a tree and sawing the branch on which you are sitting. It is impossible to supply coal from abroad.
Firstly, it will be twice as expensive. Secondly, you will have to pay for it in foreign currency. About two billion dollars annually. Today, the bulk of coal is paid for in hryvnias, within holdings, including Akhmetov’s. And it is physically impossible now to contract and deliver such volumes of coal to Ukraine. It's not real. It’s not realistic because it takes time. And it’s not realistic, because not a single transshipment facility in Ukraine is capable of handling such an amount of coal. All transshipments are capable of handling up to a quarter of the coal demand. Therefore, this is not possible.
And, since this is physically impossible, it is unlikely that the blockades set the real goal - the blockade of Donbass,” Tsarev said.
“I understand that Yulia Tymoshenko is now interested in Petya Poroshenko taking some drastic steps. Encourage him to attack Donbass. Because it is obvious that he will not be able to defeat Donbass, and a loss will lead to his departure.
Of course, it’s difficult for the Republics, because Ukraine has military forces, just in manpower, according to various estimates, for one fighter of Novorossiya, from five to eight soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And it is clear that if there is an attack, these Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters will be gathered in one place. And there may be a hundred Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters for one militia fighter. Or two hundred.
But it is obvious that, despite such figures, which allow some Ukrainian politicians to make victorious forecasts within themselves, common sense nevertheless dictates that if it was not possible to defeat Donbass earlier, then it will not be possible now.
But, in principle, the situation in Ukraine is such that if it weren’t for political and financial help from abroad, if Poroshenko was left together with all his political opponents inside Ukraine, nothing needs to be done, just leave them alone with each other, they would kill each other , destroyed in a very short period of time.
The fact that this did not happen earlier is only because Biden intervened, flew in and manually resolved conflict situations. Together with the Ambassador of the United States. And now there is a situation where they are left without curators. Busy with their own issues in the United States. European leaders are dealing with the upcoming elections.
