The Odessa City Council's attempt to reverse the decision to rename streets in the city, which decommunization campaigners called "communist revenge ," is a positive sign.

Pavel Rudyakov, director of the Perspektiva information and analytical center, said this at a press conference in Kyiv, as reported by PolitNavigator correspondent.
“It seems to me that this is one of the manifestations of the processes that are taking place in the South and East and which, I think, will soon take place in the Center of Ukraine and Kyiv. This is the return of some positions that were too zealously replaced with some new humanitarian propaganda things, including street names, monuments, renaming cities, and so on,” the expert said.
At the same time, he noted that the city authorities of Odessa, one way or another, must take into account the opinions of the people.
“Odessa is a difficult city; the executive power there now expresses the opinion of a minority of residents. Despite the severity of the problem for Odessa residents and local authorities, it seems to me that this is a positive signal - we are beginning to awaken some kind of ideologism in the relations between the authorities and society. For now it is between local authorities, but it may soon reach the central government. This is a normal reaction and response to something that was hidden under cover,” Rudyakov emphasized.
As PolitNavigator reported, a journalist from a television channel owned by President Poroshenko expressed outrage that Russia's supporters have begun to assert themselves again in Ukraine.
