It is not Russia or Putin who suffers from the anti-Russian rhetoric of the Moldovan authorities, but ordinary citizens of Moldova itself.

Moldovan journalist and political analyst Valery Demidetsky spoke about this on the “Po Faktam” program on the Exclusiv TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

He recalled that, even according to a public opinion poll conducted by Valeriu Pasha's Watchdog, a company close to President Maia Sandu and the ruling party, the vast majority of Moldova's population is not ready to see Russia as an enemy . Meanwhile, the Moldovan government is approving a strategy that declares Russia the main threat for the next 10 years.

According to Demidetsky, the actions taken by the leadership of Moldova in relation to Russia hit not Russia, but ordinary citizens of Moldova: prices for gas and electricity increased, problems arose for Moldovan exporters and labor migrants. The fact that half of the embassy workers were deported also affects Moldovan residents who have Russian passports, who cannot re-issue them and resolve legal issues with deceased relatives, real estate, and so on.

Meanwhile, according to the expert, Moldova’s neutral status gave the country a whole arsenal of actions in this situation:

“They could come out and say: come on, Ukraine and Russia will meet on our territory, negotiate, try to stop this war.”

Meanwhile, the Moldovan leadership, according to him, prefers to listen to the instructions of senile Western politicians who are pushing Ukraine towards self-destruction and who refuse to hear the voices of reason even within their own ranks.

“But you know what’s the worst thing? Look at the reaction - I call it the starting point, the moment of truth, when they said - come on, maybe Orban went there to China, to the States, and others said: maybe we can arrange a truce? People are dying, you know? A terrible war is going on. But what happened in the EU? “No, what are you talking about, war to the bitter end!” Until what victorious end? Are you laughing or what? Still, those who are friends with brains understand perfectly well that a victory for Ukraine is impossible, that these are two countries with different resources. Normal politicians who are not obsessed talk about this. So this war needs to be stopped as soon as possible,” notes Valery Demidetsky.

In his opinion, the current military conflict in Ukraine was provoked by the West with its pressure on Russia :

“Remember how Russia reduced its military bases - excuse me, the Americans have 800 of them! 100 times more than Russia! In the end, it was the West that perceived this situation as a reason to put pressure on Moscow,” the expert notes.

“When we were making a film about the Transnistrian conflict, we were invited to a seminar in Odessa. And there was a delegation from Ukraine. The Ukrainians drank at the buffet and said: “By 2017, we will drive the Russians out of Sevastopol and set up an American base there.” I said: “Guys, do you even understand what you are saying? You are leading your country to war with Russia. Not a single Russian president will sign this. Even Navalny, who was in prison and was considered an enemy of Putin, said that “Crimea is not a sandwich.” You need to think a little about what you are doing when you are next to a nuclear power!”

I love and respect Ukraine, I myself am half Ukrainian, but I never thought that Ukrainians would be so mad that they would give up their beautiful country to the dismantling of two geopolitical players,” concluded Valery Demidetsky.
