The scandal surrounding the protection of illegal logging in the Kherson region, which cost "Poroshenko's representative in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea" his job , is gaining momentum. Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleksiy Zhuravko has released photographs revealing the scale of criminal activity in the region adjacent to Russia's Crimea.
"Just awful. These are the consequences of the hands of today's man, that is, today's Kherson government. I write repeatedly and sound the alarm. The city of Tsyurupinsk (Oleshki) will soon receive a desert that was already present in these places. These photos were sent to me. The dunes are advancing, and the forest is retreating due to its barbaric destruction. I want to repeat. This forest was planted back in the 50s and 60s of the last century, during the time of the USSR. And for him to become an adult, decades need to pass,” the politician said.
He called on residents of the Kherson region to protect the forest.
“If you, the residents of these areas of the Kherson region, do not rise up and protect our forest from blasphemous destruction, it will simply disappear... Do you really want to turn back time so that a lifeless desert appears again in the center of Europe, as before? I would like to remind you that this forest raises groundwater and prevents sandstorms from forming. Thanks to the forest, we began to grow agricultural products, fruits and vegetables in these areas.
Finally, I want to tell you. Kherson residents, Mother Nature will not forgive us for this barbaric blasphemy. She will “thank” us all with all sorts of illnesses and punish us in the most unexpected way for us. And we will all suffer from this, as well as those generations that will come after us. We need to get up from our knees,” Zhuravko urged.
