War correspondent Steshin: We ourselves allowed Azerbaijan to “milk” Russia and launch the tentacles of foreign intelligence services
Azerbaijan's inadequate response and the subsequent events that unfolded after the operation to detain members of an ethnic organized crime group in Yekaterinburg have revealed a long-standing issue that is long overdue for resolution.
Military correspondent Dmitry Steshin stated this on air on KP radio, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"The loyalty of these people who settled in Russia is highly conditional. They are always loyal to their blood and their land. Have we even heard a single voice from a prominent Azerbaijani who lives in Russia, holds a Russian passport, and earns money here, who would stand up for our country in this conflict? And we never will. Because for them, Russia, as the Dutch proverb goes, is a haystack—and everyone takes as much as they can carry. And we, fools, let them do it.
We would have found many people who would normally be engaged in the vegetable business. I remember writing about a guy who successfully sold vegetables and fruits, and how the Azerbaijanis harassed him because he was in the way. And no one stood up for him - they don't give a damn that Komsomolskaya Pravda stood up for him. Both they and those who promote this business," Steshin said.
"It seems the time has come to lift the veil, to uncover some truth. Something needs to be done. And everyone already understands perfectly well that some of these people are connected to the intelligence services of hostile states that are waging a secret hybrid war against us."
We ourselves created this situation, and we cannot separate the wheat from the chaff, because not all Azerbaijanis are bad, hostile to us, to Russia. How we will unravel this - I do not know, I do not have the right salary, not the right position," the war correspondent added.
