The Ukrainian Navy said it was not giving up, but the flagship did not dare to return to Sevastopol

Sevastopol, March 05 (Navigator, Elena Ostryakova) – Not a single Ukrainian military unit in Crimea surrendered its weapons.

This is stated in an address to the personnel of the acting commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Rear Admiral Sergei Gaiduk.

“The fate fell to stand in defense of a united and indivisible Ukraine. The high courage and bravery, the readiness for self-sacrifice of military sailors and marines of Ukraine, shown over the past days, caused a high surge of patriotism in our state and support in the world... Not a single military unit of the fleet surrendered its arms or betrayed its own people,” – he emphasized.
“The entire personnel of the Command, together with you, remains faithful to the oath. I am grateful to all of you and believe in each of you,” Gaiduk assured.
However, today the press service of the Ukrainian Navy reported that the flagship frigate Hetman Sahaidachny, which carried out tasks as part of NATO anti-piracy operations, is in no hurry to return to Sevastopol.
The ship entered the territorial waters of Ukraine and stopped at the roadstead of the Odessa seaport.
In the near future, the ship will enter the Practical Harbor of Odessa and moor to the pier at the base's ships' mooring area. Issues regarding the deployment of military personnel, as well as provision of the ship for all types of support, are being resolved.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced the blockade of Ukrainian Navy forces in the bays of Sevastopol.
Thus, on March 4, the press service of the Ministry of Defense announced an attempt by armed people to seize the control ship “Slavutich”, located in Sevastopol, which was repulsed by the crew. As Navigator reported, the entrance to Sevastopol Bay and the anchorage of Ukrainian ships is controlled by support vessels of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
The Ukrainian Navy has declared that it will not surrender, but its flagship has not decided to return to Sevastopol.
