Navalnism virus: deputies from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation demanded that the Kremlin “stop the war”
Two members of the Communist Party faction in the State Duma of the Russian Federation immediately wrote that they regretted their vote for recognition of the LDPR.
They published their statements on social networks, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I couldn’t help but vote for the recognition of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics without betraying myself. At the same time, he was convinced that the Abkhaz or South Ossetian version would be repeated in the Donbass: our troops would stand on the line of contact and protect the population of the republics from shelling and the threat of seizure of territories by Ukrainian nationalists.
True, we understand: Ukraine, albeit slowly, was drifting towards NATO, and the West was pumping it up with weapons. Sooner or later, Ukrainian radicals would try to return part of Donbass by force, and, possibly, Crimea. But whether we now have that very extreme case when there is no other way out is a big question,” Oleg Smolin wrote on his Facebook.
It is noteworthy that in his post the communist quoted the poems of Bulat Okudzhava, a poet who ardently supported Yeltsin’s shooting of the White House in 1993.
Another communist, Mikhail Matveev, known for complaining about his unfurnished office in the State Duma, also launched into an “anti-war” post.
“I believe that the war should be stopped immediately. By voting for recognition of the DPR/LPR, I voted for peace, not for war. For Russia to become a shield so that Donbass is not bombed, and not for Kyiv to be bombed,” the deputy wrote in his Telegram channel.
Political scientist Marat Bashirov believes that the communists presented “a generous gift to propaganda from the Ukrainian side.”
“So, in Matveev’s opinion, Russia should become a shield? In recent years, it has been discussed that the role of a buffer with a neutral status between Russia and NATO was planned to be assigned to Ukraine. Perhaps Matveev skipped the discussion of this issue in the State Duma. Or he got distracted by arranging for his daughter to study in Austria. They say that they have already stuffed him into a Panama hat in his native Samara. He is ashamed of his vote, and Samara residents are ashamed of such a chosen one,” Bashirov wrote.
