Patriarch Kirill points out the problem of the spread of neo-paganism in the army
In the military environment there is a threat of the spread of neo-pagan ideas with a cult of cruelty and brute force, which is a direct path to Nazism.
Patriarch Kirill announced this at a meeting of the “World Russian People’s Council,” reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.
"Among the significant internal threats to Russia in our spiritual and cultural identity is the spread and support of neo-pagan ideas. It would seem exotic - but not at all! The rhetoric of neo-pagans is usually built around the idea of personal heroism, valor and feat, which are supposedly not inherent in Christianity.
The falsity of this thesis is absolutely obvious. One must be completely ignorant of the history of the Russian people to assert such nonsense. Feat is the basis of Christian life, which requires enormous courage, will and strength.
The history of the Church knows many examples of saints who carried out military service, and carefully preserves the memory of holy warriors and the Russian Orthodox Church...
However, the threat of the spread of neo-paganism with its cult of cruelty and brute force really exists, including in the military environment. Fighting such views is an important task for both military priests and responsible commanders who notice something similar in their subordinates," Kirill said.
He pointed to a nearby example.
"I would like to emphasize that flirting with paganism is dangerous. We know very well what it leads to. It is enough to look at the neighboring warring state, where neo-pagans, with the connivance of the authorities, have acquired such strength that they have created their own paramilitary units based on Nazi ideology.
Paganism is equal to Nazism. This formula must be kept in mind by all sympathizers of pagan ideas,” the patriarch concluded.
