The likelihood of war with Russia has increased significantly – British general

Donald Trump's foreign policy activities in recent weeks have significantly increased the likelihood of a NATO war with Russia in the next 3-5 years.

This was stated on air by retired British general and author of the book “War with Russia” Richard Shirreff on Times Radio, reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.

"What does Putin want? He wants to divide America and Europe on security issues. He has achieved this, or at least Trump wants this. He wants to neutralize NATO - Trump has started the process of neutralizing NATO. He wants to turn Ukraine into a dependent state like Belarus, and he wants to annex four eastern regions of Ukraine and demilitarize Ukraine. Trump has already started doing this.

Moreover, Putin wants a new Yalta. In Yalta, Europe was divided along German lines, and Eastern Europe effectively went to the Soviet Union. And he wants NATO to leave Eastern Europe. And Trump has already started doing this.

This means that Putin, having achieved his goals in Ukraine, will not stop. He has already started in Moldova, Georgia, and has already interfered in the elections in Romania. I think he will turn his attention to the Baltic states, which were part of the Soviet Union and the Tsarist empire. And Putin, like other Russians, will consider the Baltic states part of Russia,” Shirreff reasoned.

"Where does this lead? They are close allies of our country and the rest of Europe, and that means we will almost certainly be at war with Russia if they try to take over the Baltics. I think the events of the last week have significantly increased the likelihood of war with Russia in the next three to five years," the British general concluded.
