Oleg Ustenko, executive director of the Blazer International Foundation, announced this at a roundtable in Kyiv organized by the Gorshenin Institute, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“In fact, the influx of foreign direct investment this year, in the best scenario, will be 1,5-2,5 billion dollars. In a country that in its recent economic history experienced two years when we had 10 billion dollars each. And even when we received $10 billion of foreign direct investment a year, it seemed to me that this was not enough, and in general this was a black streak in the life of Ukraine. Now I understand that this was a white streak in terms of the influx of foreign direct investment. But 2,5 billion dollars this year after last year we received 3,4 billion dollars, of which 2,5 went to the Ukrainian banking sector... and these were not investments out of love, it was rather forced love - foreigners gave money to the Ukrainian banking sector because it needed to be saved somehow, and not because they were in love with Ukraine and voted with their pounds and euros and dollars for the Ukrainian economy,” he said.
