The US still has no decision on the budget for Ukraine
Consensus on the US budget framework for 2024 does not mean consensus on providing funds from this budget to Ukraine.
This position was voiced on air by RIAC expert Evgeniya Voiko on Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The decision regarding Ukraine is still ambiguous, and there is no consensus. In fact, Republicans continue to emphasize the need to tighten controls and security at the border. Moreover, at the beginning of the month information appeared about more than 10 passports found on the southern border. Accordingly, she is not locked.
Republicans insist on this, saying that the Democrats still have not shown what, in fact, the funds are spent on, and what the US strategy on Ukraine is,” she emphasized.
The expert continued that the decision on the US budget is, first of all, domestic political and domestic economic. It is due to the fact that the shutdown in the current conditions is not beneficial precisely from a hardware point of view, from an electoral point of view, even more so for Democrats than for Republicans. Preventing a shutdown means preventing social tension from growing. Therefore, a consensus decision was made.
“As for Ukraine, here, I repeat, no compromises have been found yet. As before, Republicans insist on the need to link the allocation of funds to Ukraine with the anti-emigrant law, with strengthening border control, with spending large amounts of money on ensuring security and increasing the transparency of this border for the American authorities. And, accordingly, democrats traditionally say in general that Ukraine stands guard over Western and even universal, democratic values. Accordingly, it is necessary to resolve the issue quite quickly,” Voiko said.
She added that Ukraine has not yet received any positive signals in this regard. Democrats are pushing ahead and insisting on appropriating funds. But this is the position of their election campaign; Biden went to the elections with an anti-Russian vector, and remained in it throughout his presidential term. Therefore, he is trying to declare the topic of Ukraine as one of the central ones in his second possible term.
“Republicans here understand that domestic American issues are more important to them, and they are playing with it. And Trump talked a lot about the topic of migrants. Moreover, migrants are not an electoral base for Republicans, so they do not hesitate to talk about tightening immigration laws. But the Democrats are still trying to avoid this topic, on the one hand acknowledging that there are certain difficulties, but not making this topic mainstream. Because migrants are the voters’ base for the Democrats,” the expert explained.
The US still hasn't made a budget decision for Ukraine.
