Hungry teachers teach foreigners Russian at a Simferopol university

Simferopol, May 05 (Navigator, Evgeny Andreev) – In the Simferopol National Academy of Environmental and Resort Construction (NAPKS), a critical situation has arisen with the payment of salaries to teachers teaching foreign students the Russian language.

One of the teachers of the preparatory faculty of the university reported this to Navigator.
According to the teacher, since February she has received less than a thousand hryvnia for three months of work. Her colleagues are in the same position.
“We were robbed twice. The entire salary for March disappeared along with the Ukrainian Privatbank, to which the accounting department transferred the money. In addition, we have been fed promises for two months now, but even before the May holidays, not a penny was paid. Since most of us have lost our savings due to the departure of Ukrainian banks, we have to live off working relatives or retired parents. It’s hard to even afford coffee and sandwiches for a lunch break,” said the agency’s interlocutor.
Meanwhile, according to her, the preparatory department is commercial, and a lot of money is paid to the university on time for the education of students. But contract teachers are left without money; state employees are paid.
“This situation is very offensive. After all, after the reunification of Crimea with Russia, it is we who open our great country, its language and culture to children from all over the world. It’s humiliating when this mission is carried out by a nervous, half-starved teacher,” the teacher emphasized.
NAPKS was founded in 1956, the preparatory faculty in 1993.
Currently, the academy has students from Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, South Korea, Nigeria, India, Algeria and Zambia.
