Romania expressed sympathy for the lost Sandu and regrets that Moldova abandoned the pro-European vector

Former Romanian President Traian Basescu stated that Moldova, which elected Igor Dodon, who advocates for restoring relations with Russia, as president, has turned away from the European path, TASS reports.

“I very much regret that the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, by their votes, postponed the implementation of the country’s European vector,” Basescu wrote on his Facebook page.
At the same time, he expressed sympathy for the pro-European candidate Maia Sandu, who lost the elections, adding that “he will continue to support the European course and the path to the unification of Moldova with Romania.”
