Russia has already accumulated tens of thousands of Ukrainian prisoners of war - much more than “political prisoners” even according to the most ambitious and biased estimates.
This was stated during the Free Russia Forum held in Lithuania by the head of the project “Support for Political Prisoners” of a foreign agent liquidated in Russia - the Memorial society, extremist Sergei Davidis, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“There is a huge problem of Ukrainian civilian hostages and prisoners of war. In fact, all civilian hostages held in Russia are political prisoners.
But even a family list does not exist in nature, and these are thousands of people, up to twenty-five thousand. And this is comparable to the number of all other Russian political prisoners at the highest levels, and near-political ones. And these are just citizens of Ukraine,” Davidis said.
Moreover, in his opinion, the decisions of the Donbass courts should not be taken into account.
“And the same goes for prisoners of war, who are partially accused of war crimes. But it is, of course, in no way possible to trust the court of the DPR and LPR to prove these crimes in any reliable and convincing manner; no guarantees are already observed there.
And some of the Ukrainian military personnel, contrary to the Geneva Conventions, are accused of participating in hostilities because they took part in them. Or they didn’t participate, and even before the war they served in “Aidar” or “Azov”, or other units.This is a big problem. It’s understood that we all pay attention to Russian political prisoners, but this catastrophic consequence of the war also requires our attention,” the extremist added.
