The Rada plans to put Savchenko in a mental hospital
Member of the Ukrainian parliament Nadezhda Savchenko, who is facing a case of attempted coup, must undergo a forced psychiatric examination.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Anton Gerashchenko, called the “talking head” of Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, writes about this on his Facebook page.
“Nadezhda Savchenko needs to undergo a compulsory psychiatric examination to determine her adequacy. I came to this conclusion after carefully reading the proposal to bring to criminal responsibility and detain the still people’s deputy Nadezhda Savchenko,” the deputy said.
According to him, he personally decided to vote for lifting Savchenko’s parliamentary immunity, but will not vote for her detention and arrest.
“First of all, I don’t want to create an image of a victim for her. For me, she is not a victim, but a perpetrator. And secondly, I think it’s right that Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko, instead of submitting for the arrest of Nadezhda Savchenko, submitted documents for the Verkhovna Rada’s consent to her forced examination in a mental hospital,” Gerashchenko believes.
However, in the comments to the post, users doubted the correctness of the decision to compulsory psychiatric examination.
“Let the court decide whether an examination is necessary. Parliament generally cannot send someone forcibly for treatment. Either from lice or from schizophrenia. The court can.
“Extremely bad decision. There will be an uproar about the return of punitive psychiatry. Better to be arrested and tried,” others note.
As PolitNavigator reported, according to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Savchenko planned to blow up two boxes in the Verkhovna Rada , collapse the dome, and finish off any survivors with automatic weapons.
