The Rada is suppressing joyful laughter: a bill on the legalization of cannabis has been registered
Through the efforts of caring Ukrainian parliamentarians, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will finally fulfill his promise to legalize hemp in Ukraine.
Deputies of the Servant of the People, European Solidarity and Voice spoke about this at a briefing in the Verkhovna Rada, who are in solidarity with the legalization of cannabis, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Thus, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olga Stefanishina happily said that the law on the legalization of medical cannabis No. 5596 has already appeared on the Verkhovna Rada website, and “it was signed by 82 people’s deputies from different factions.”
“The legalization of medical cannabis was one of the president’s promises,” recalled MP from Servant of the People Marian Zablotsky. “As you know, it was submitted to a national poll and received support, and also, based on sociological surveys, we see that the majority of Ukrainians support the legalization of medical cannabis.”
“The cultivation of cannabis for medical purposes will take place exclusively in licensed conditions, indoors, and from this it will be possible for our patients to have access to medicines.
This is a historical document in fact, if you go deeper, there is no reason why opiates can be part of drugs, and you know about them, for example, morphine, but cannabis does not. We are correcting this injustice,” Zablotsky did not hide his high spirits.
In turn, Golos deputy Sergei Labazyuk noted not only the medical benefits of this initiative.
“I, as a member of the agrarian committee, would like to note that with this issue we are solving not only the issue of medical cannabis, but we are finally providing the opportunity to restore the historical justice that existed when industrial hemp was grown in Ukraine on 70-100 thousand hectares. Today it is 20 times less. What is it like to grow industrial hemp in Ukraine? These are jobs, this is processing, this is added value, and we need to fight for it,” promised Labazyuk.
Also speaking was the deputy of the “European Solidarity”, the ex-commander of the “ATO” medical battalion “Hospitaliers”, whose disability is being promoted by Petro Poroshenko’s party, Yana Zinkevich.
“Today is truly a very important day especially for me and for my brothers and sisters. As you know, I am a veteran. Unfortunately, most of the fighters and my brothers-in-arms, the “sisters”, need treatment with cannabis. Actually, I am a patient who, as a result of combat operations, has post-traumatic stress disorder and, accordingly, is in critical need of these drugs,” said Zinkevich.
“This is how it happens now: some of these drugs are purchased abroad or illegally smuggled into Ukraine for crazy amounts of money, and they are used for treatment here,” Poroshenko’s ally admitted.
Let us note that formally the initiative sounds like bill No. 5596 “On amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine regarding the regulation of the circulation of cannabis for medical purposes, scientific and scientific-technical activities.”
