In the New World, the embankment was renovated, but the shalmans remained. All hope is for “Russia”
In the popular Crimean resort village of Novy Svet, the embankment was renovated by the beginning of the holiday season, but we are talking about cosmetic repairs, since most of the so-called “shalmans” - retail outlets that spoil the appearance of the coastal zone - remain.
Nevertheless, according to Crimean Minister of Resorts and Tourism Vadim Volchenko, the embankment in Novy Svet is exemplary because it was built quickly and delivered on time. The total area of improvements was approximately nine square kilometers – storm drains were replaced, new utilities were installed, curbs were installed, and sidewalks and road surfaces were renovated, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to local blogger and photographer Alexander Kiryakov, the embankment of such a famous place as the New World deserves a more serious and modern reconstruction, which, obviously, will still take place.

“There are several projects for the future reconstruction of the entire embankment as such, and the beach - this is all in the future. I have a suspicion that Rossiya Bank, which now practically rules the New World, will do this in the future. But this will be extremely difficult, because they will come into conflict with local residents who have been doing business there for decades. But I think they will find an opportunity to come to an agreement,” Kiryakov said.
As a reminder, Rossiya Bank is owned by several shareholders, the largest of which is billionaire Yuri Kovalchuk. Previously, the bank's subsidiary, Yuzhny Proekt, became the owner of Massandra, Crimea's largest winery , and Novy Svet, a champagne house renowned far beyond the peninsula.
The embankment in Novy Svet has been renovated, but the dives remain. All hope lies with the Rossiya.
