Moscow has named the condition under which Zelensky will be able to recognize Crimea as Russian
The new Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will be able to recognize the results of the Crimean referendum only if the events on the Maidan in 2014 are officially called an illegal coup d’etat.
Olga Timofeeva, a member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, stated this on air on the Tsargrad TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“It is possible to recognize Sevastopol and Crimea, the right of the people to a referendum and its results in the only case - if we recognize that on February 21, 2014, a coup d’etat took place in Kyiv, the seizure of power and the removal of the legally elected President Yanukovych. Only in this case everything lines up in a certain logic of events, but Zelensky will not do this, and we again come to a dead end,” she explained.
At the same time, ex-people's deputy and presidential candidate of Ukraine in 1999 and 2004, Alexander Rzhavsky, expressed the opinion that immediate political recognition cannot be demanded from Zelensky, since he is dependent on the mood of a diverse Ukrainian society, some of which have an extremely negative attitude towards Russia.
“I want to believe that the forecast will be positive. But I would ask you not to rush today to touch Zelensky with various proposals: “Let’s immediately recognize the referendum, let’s recognize the fundamental right of the people to self-determination,” and so on. Zelensky the candidate and Zelensky the president are, in theory, two different people, since Zelensky the candidate, being in the Procrustean bed of political ideas of the entire electoral field of Ukraine, was forced to say many things,” Rzhavsky concluded.
