In the battles for Mariupol, Ukrainian border guard Alexander Vedilin was eliminated, who in 2014 refused to recognize Crimea as Russian and take the oath of office to the Russian Federation.
Journalist Galina Dobrovolskaya from Korsun-Shevchenkivske in the Cherkasy region, where Vedilin was born, wrote about this in her blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
It is known that Vedilin was a signalman; after leaving Crimea, he took part in a punitive operation in the Donbass, and was then assigned to Mariupol, where he was liquidated.
“Alexander Vedilin, having qualified as a telecommunications engineer, as a tactical-level military officer, joined the Maritime Guard of the State Border Service in Mariupol. Then he served in Crimea. In 2014, when Russian troops annexed the peninsula, he entered the mainland as part of his unit, remaining a devoted defender of Ukraine.
He served faithfully. He had a presidential distinction “For participation in the ATO” and departmental awards. With arms in hand until the last moment, he faithfully fulfilled his military duty at the combat post entrusted to him. On March 31.03.2022, XNUMX, he died defending Mariupol from capture by Russian troops,” Dobrovolskaya wrote.
