“You see how many upheavals our world has experienced in recent years. The unexpected victory of Donald Trump in the US presidential election, the even more unexpected Brexit, the invasion of refugees from Syria that covered Europe, the terrible terrorist attacks. Against this background, the problem of unemployment is only growing, the era of the petrodollar is coming to an end, and we already feel the problem of climate change in our cities,” Sokolova said, anticipating the opening of the first session of the forum.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, at the beginning of the year there were serious concerns in Ukraine about the deterioration of relations in the United States due to the fact that during the election race the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington was actively trying to discredit Donald Trump. At the instigation of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, a scandal began surrounding the head of Trump's campaign, Paul Manafort, forcing him to resign. And President Petro Poroshenko even sent his minister a congratulatory letter to Hillary Clinton on the night of the vote count.
We also note that Sokolova works for the ICTV channel, owned by Ukrainian oligarch Viktor Pinchuk, who was one of Hillary Clinton’s sponsors.
