Political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky said this on Topinform, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Firstly, in six months there will be elections for Putin, who is clearly not interested in any super-drastic movements regarding Ukraine. In addition, immediately after the elections there will be a World Cup. Some sudden movement could completely disrupt the World Cup, for which all of Russia has been preparing for eight or ten years. Nothing will happen, let people calm down. And our Pyotr Alekseevich makes great use of this, he will continue to say “farewell, unwashed Russia”, introduce all sorts of super restrictions, ban the Russian language wherever possible. At home, he will still speak Russian with his wife and children, but he will forbid everything, realizing that they cannot answer him. Well, at least for another year. Now, after the World Cup, I think something may change,” Pogrebinsky said.
