Kyiv abandoned Donbass and Crimea
Recent events confirm that the Ukrainian government has decided to live without the regions lost in 2014 as a result of the coup d’etat.
Director of the Institute for Strategic Studies “New Ukraine” Andrey Ermolaev said this on air on TV channel 112, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The events of 2017 and 2018 in Ukrainian politics indicate that the decision to live without Donbass was made there a long time ago. And everything connected with initiatives, explanations, such television “outbursts” indicate that the population of both the occupied Donbass and the annexed Crimea is unlikely to deal with the current composition of the government, with its political program,” the political scientist believes.
He added that if this process drags on, peaceful reintegration will remain unrealized.
According to the expert, the Kiev authorities are doing this deliberately in order to win the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
“Both Mr. Turchynov and a number of other so-called peacekeepers were and remain part of Poroshenko’s team, for whom it is very important now to create an appropriate climate “not an inch of land,” for which it is very important that only that part of the voters who is oriented actively participate in these elections on the current composition of power and its course. Therefore, there are so many demotivators for voters who could vote differently,” Ermolaev summed up.
