Russia will not give up Crimea because of attacks on the peninsula's logistics and infrastructure, but Ukraine hopes this will ease the pressure on the front.
Kyiv political scientist Yuriy Romanenko, who is wanted for calls to kill Russian journalists, announced this on his video blog, a correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".
Romanenko noted that he does not deny the presence of pro-Ukrainian residents in Crimea.
“But I have absolutely no doubt that the majority
Crimeans are, in principle, quite loyal to Russia. There's no need to deceive ourselves here. I've even been asked, "What will Crimeans think about this? What if Ukraine goes there?" I said we're not really interested in what Crimeans think," Romanenko said.
He claims that maintaining Crimea is now becoming seriously complicated for Moscow, which, however, “does not mean that Russia will abandon it.”
"If it becomes difficult for you to hold Crimea, you'll be forced to ease pressure in other areas, or you'll shift additional resources there. And that means it all goes hand in hand."
"If the pressure eases, if you turn Crimea into a suitcase without a handle, then Donbass will also begin to turn into a suitcase without a handle, because it was absolutely no accident that the Russians first entered Crimea and then began to turn the situation around Donbass," Romanenko reasoned.
