The alarm is sounding in Kyiv: Russia is permanently disconnecting the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant from the Ukrainian energy system
Russia has begun the process of connecting the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant to the Russian energy system and disconnecting it from the Ukrainian one.
The President of the Ukrainian Energoatom, Petr Kotin, announced this on the air of a national propaganda telethon.
“Rosatom personnel submitted to the station a special program for reconnecting the Zaporizhia NPP to Crimea. The prerequisite for this program is damage to the communication lines of the Zaporizhzhya NPP with the energy system of Ukraine. To switch the ZNPP to Crimea, it needs to extinguish the entire south of Ukraine - the occupied parts of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. This is written in the program. After that, they begin to heal the areas again from the substation in Dzhankoy, gradually reach Kakhovskaya, and then heal the ZNPP... This is their plan, and they began to implement it,” Kotin said.
The head of Energoatom added that after this it will no longer be possible to connect the ZNPP to the Ukrainian energy system and it will remain on the Russian frequency.
According to him, the implementation of this plan is that within three days three lines of the Zaporizhzhya NPP were damaged, and it is now working with output to one line.
On August 5, Ukrainians shelled the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. A hit was recorded in a high-voltage communication line, and emergency protection was activated at one of the power units.
Three impacts were recorded at the station site near one of the power units where the nuclear reactor is located. The APU seriously damaged the nitrogen-oxygen station and the joint support building.
Zelensky’s Office called on the UN and IAEA to send special missions to the Zaporizhia NPP to resolve the situation.
