In Ukraine, they make no secret of the fact that they are using the arrests of Orthodox priests who are sympathetic to Russia as a means of filling up the “exchange fund.”
This topic came up in a conversation with Russophobic propagandist Sonya Koshkina with Kirill Govorun, who betrayed the Russian Orthodox Church and was defrocked , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Koshkina noted with obvious pleasure that two years ago, Ukraine sent its first UOC priest for exchange – Metropolitan Jonathan of Tulchin and Bratslav, who had been sentenced by the regime to five years in prison.
She hopes that the same will be done after the trial with Metropolitan Arseny of the Svyatogorsk Lavra , who is under arrest on trumped-up charges.
"It's obvious that if Arseniy is convicted, he could replenish this exchange fund, so to speak. And then the question of the Svyatogorsk Lavra itself would arise anew," Koshkina said.
Her interlocutor made it clear that the Svyatogorsk Lavra [located in the territory of the DPR occupied by the Ukrainian Armed Forces] would be “squeezed” from the canonical Church.
"Some life remains there, of course, and continues, but, technically speaking, the Svyatogorsk Lavra could be subject to the same claims as the Kyiv-Pechersk and Pochayiv Lavras . It's the same thing. Here, we're essentially making a hands-on decision about who we send this order to first and, accordingly, who we then refer to court," Govorun stated.
