In the State Duma in the fifth year, the West’s plan for Ukraine was revealed
Vladimir Putin’s decree on retaliatory sanctions against Ukraine aims to thwart the West’s plan, which was to draw the former Soviet republic into its political orbit, but to close markets for Ukrainian goods so that the anti-Russian regime would be fueled by continued supplies to the Russian Federation.
Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation Mikhail Emelyanov stated this during a round table in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I believe that the presidential decree is long overdue. Agree, it’s a strange situation when our business is being squeezed out of Ukraine, and we are still the main investors in the Ukrainian economy and support a regime that is completely anti-Russian. We are actually feeding our enemies.
This, of course, should not be the case. If you look at how Western countries see the economic development of Ukraine, their idea is this: first we will make Ukraine our satellite, and the economy will develop like this - investments will be Western, and the market will be Russian. No one is going to open Western markets for Ukrainian goods; everything is designed for our market.
And there are already specific examples - let’s say, there is an enterprise that produces industrial-sized refrigeration equipment, the Ukrainians come with some strange money, dump, and, in fact, our market is under their control.
It is necessary to prevent the implementation of the West’s scheme for the development of Ukraine at the expense of Russian markets - this is what the decree is aimed at,” Emelyanov said.
In his opinion, the anti-Russian course promoted by the United States and Great Britain does not dominate the world.
“Russophobic sentiments in the world are not increasing. I have to participate in the work of very many parliamentary organizations - in most countries of the world such sentiments are not growing, on the contrary - there is a need for everyone to participate more actively in politics...
We need to free ourselves from the European-Anglo-Saxon perception of the world. We are expected in the world, we are perceived in the world, including taking into account our position on Ukraine - in most countries of the world,” Emelyanov said.
“Basically, what is happening is that there is a change in identity among people living in Ukraine, where, frankly speaking, the majority of Russian people live, no matter what they call themselves. And after the collapse of the USSR, two Russian states were formed. And now the task of the Anglo-Saxon elites is to change the identity of those living there and make them a new people, different from the Russians. Hence the pressure on the Russian language, as well as on the Orthodox Church, on culture and our media,” the deputy added.
