The EU intends to play a “decisive role” in the restoration of Donbass
The European Union is considering the possibility of playing a leading role in the “reconstruction of the regions of Ukraine affected by the conflict in Donbass.”

This was stated by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini following the first day of an informal meeting of the EU foreign ministers in Bratislava, Deutsche Welle reports.
According to her, this topic has become one of the leading discussions among foreign ministers, but such restoration is possible only after the full implementation of the Minsk agreements.
In addition, the European Union is exploring the possibility of soon implementing more “economic projects” and “humanitarian projects” in order to improve the living conditions of the population.
Federica Mogherini emphasized that the EU fully supports the “Normandy format” and the implementation of the Minsk agreements as key directions for resolving the conflict in Donbass. At the same time, the EU is not satisfied with the current state of implementation of the Minsk agreements, she noted.
She also expressed hope that the current truce in Donbass could become a good basis for a long-term ceasefire.
Another area of discussion between the ministers, according to Mogherini, concerned the greater contribution of the EU to the work of the OSCE mission, as well as the possibility of assistance from the European Union during local elections in Donbass, when the necessary conditions are available for this.
