In Donbass, Russia is morally ready for the Abkhaz option
Russia is ready to recognize the independence of the Donbass republics. This will be done if Ukraine decides to conduct a military operation and seize the territories of the DPR or LPR.
Russian political observer and journalist Maxim Yusin stated this on the PolitWera internet channel, a correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".

According to Yusin, a logical option for the development of these events would be the placement of a Russian military base on the territory of one of the republics.
“There is a third option, intermediate between unrecognized status and joining the Russian Federation, for some reason they forget about the Abkhaz option, about the South Ossetian option, that Russia recognizes independence, for example. And, having recognized independence, it already has the legal right, from the point of view of the Russian Federation, for example, to place a military base there in order to make it physically impossible for Ukraine to attempt revenge and seize these territories.
This can also be discussed. Why can this be discussed now? Because it is absolutely obvious that the “Minsk process” is reaching a dead end, but we should not be the first to say this - Ukrainian politicians are already talking about this on all kinds of broadcasts. Well, let them openly declare this to their Western partners - the Germans and French, for example. Or maybe they should tell Biden this too.
If Ukraine is not ready for the return of Donetsk and Lugansk on decent terms, in accordance with the documents signed and approved by the UN Security Council, then some other option is possible. It is difficult to imagine how many more years, decades, several million inhabitants of these republics will exist in this airless state.
Option two - there is an opinion that... I recently spoke with one very informed expert in Moscow, he believes that in March the Ukrainians may try to carry out some kind of local military operation in order to attract the attention of the Biden administration, in order not to let them forget about Donbass . But the question is how local this operation will be, whether there will be a really serious attempt to capture at least one of the capitals.
If there is such an attempt, then we will return to the Abkhaz and South Ossetian example of 2008 that I cited and Mikheil Saakashvili’s attempt to solve the problem of South Ossetia in this way. This didn't lead to anything good. It seems to me that the Russian leadership is already morally ready,” Yusin said.
