The DPR is building its defense industry from scratch
If in Ukraine today there is a destruction of industrial potential, then in the DPR, on the contrary, enterprises are being launched.

The head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, spoke about this at an online conference with residents of the Donetsk People's Republic and Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, answering a question from a resident of Nikolaev, who reported the closure of the world-famous Nikolaev Shipyard and asked how things were going with industry in the DPR.
“Yes, Alexey, your plant was indeed known throughout the Soviet Union. And I'm very sorry that it is closing. Following other legendary factories throughout Ukraine. I understand that Kyiv is abandoning the industrial status of Ukraine on the orders of Western curators. We observed a similar picture in the countries of Eastern Europe and the Baltic states, which, at the request of the West, underwent deindustrialization and turned their factories into shopping or entertainment centers,” Zakharchenko said.
According to him, the DPR took a different path.
“The republic faces the task of not only restoring the industrial potential destroyed during Independence and the war, but also beginning to develop new industries. First of all, high-tech. We are already developing the defense industry from scratch. And we are not going to stop there. New production facilities are opening in the food industry, including those that have never existed on our territory. All this is part of the food security strategy. We didn’t come up with this concept out of a good life. We must look for ways to survive in the conditions of hostilities and economic blockade,” noted the head of the DPR.
He said that this year alone, the DPR launched more than a dozen production facilities that were stopped as a result of hostilities or even before the war, as well as several completely new enterprises.
“This year alone we will open 18 new longwalls, refuting the theory that the coal industry is unprofitable. It was simply necessary to exclude the corruption component from this industry, and it became profitable,” Zakharchenko emphasized.
