A street with an indecent name appeared in Odessa
In Odessa, the lane of Nikolai Bogdanov, a hero of the city’s defense during the Great Patriotic War, was renamed into the lane... Habsburg - in honor of the failed “king of Ukraine,” transvestite and swindler Willie. Odessa journalist Igor Plisyuk writes about this in his column for PolitNavigator.

...Young man, why have you been staring at this sign for an eternity - almost two minutes now - like a rabbi who saw a pig dropping into the synagogue, and on Saturday too?! “I’ll reassure you: no, you don’t have hallucinations from overheating, even though it’s wildly hot outside.” And don’t worry, in that “cognac” that you drank completely in vain in the bodega around the corner, at Sonya’s, there was no accidental “stamp” that was very interesting and not at all for philatelists. These “tzimmes” are prepared for slightly sick people a little further away, but also not far away. But do you need it?!
No, I understand you perfectly - for the third day now I’ve been quietly either having fun or crying! Yes, my native lane is now called “Habsburg lane”. And not at all because anyone from this rather mossy Austrian dynasty, which did not exist here at all, was born here. We will not consider the Civil War, when not only Austrian occupiers, but even black zouaves from France and Greek klefts on donkeys roamed around Odessa! There were a few, but where are they now?!
And I’ll tell you more: when I read from Buzina, whom these Bandera goons killed for the truth, in whose honor they renamed the place where my family, Nivroku, has been living for almost a century and a half, my last gray hair stood on end all over my tired body! It turns out that this was some kind of prince with blue... blood in every sense, from the same ruling family, whom the Austrians prepared in the First World War, greyhounds like spirochetes, not just anywhere, but right up to the Ukrainian throne, as real as the 600th anniversary of Odessa and its no less purely Ukrainian roots BC!

Like, we will defeat Russia, and then we will make a tame kingdom of Ukraine under our Groyce-Imperial auspices... And we will appoint young Wilhelm as the king. Even if not from the most important branch of the Habsburgs, but still, not some left-wing Slav! Purebred Habsburg! And the Aryan boy was successfully taught “Ridna Mova”, although of the Galician variety, but certainly not of the Muscovite variety! He even sprinkled verses on it under the pseudonym “Vasyl Embroidered.” Not Shevchenko, of course, but certainly not Pushkin! And the newly-minted Vasya became the commander of a regiment of stout Galitsians, dressed in the outfits of operetta Sichev Cossacks. Only fate, the Indian, decided otherwise, staging a revolution in Russia, and then smashing the defeated Austria-Hungary into national pieces...
And the unlucky candidate for monarch first had to take the oath, together with his mummered “Cossacks from Galicia,” to Hetman Skoropadsky, and then serve his enemy Petlyura... And after these fighters for independence, having squabbled with each other, were swept away by the Reds, he began Willy-Vasya wanders around Europe. He lived in Prague, lived a little in Vienna... Only, no one needed any more pretenders to the previously chimerical throne of the Ukrainian kingdom that had never existed. And he settled in Paris. A sort of “king in exile” almost from a novel by Alphonse, excuse me, theirs, Doda... And yet the young, and most importantly, impoverished prince, ahead of his time with his passions, had to gigolo his French mistress, and - together with her, even end up, speaking in the language of his Ukrainian subjects who did not happen, in “Halepa”.

The fact is that Willie had a weakness - he loved not only women, but also men, anticipating current European values and progressive norms. In modern terms, the poor fellow was a transvestite... And in that not entirely tolerant time, it cost a fair amount of money. In a word, our Vasya, together with his partner, managed to cheat not just anyone, but the Rothschilds themselves, for a considerable sum. They say that I will return everything when I receive the throne! And he took off again to Vienna, leaving his beauty in the hands of someone else’s police, because it was not up to the transvestite prince to take a steam bath on the zugundera...
And then - again in Vienna, messing around with Bandera’s followers. And with the Nazis, again dreaming of a throne that never existed in nature. As a result, after the war he ended up in Kyiv, but not at all on the throne, but in the Lukyanovsk prison. As a Nazi collaborator and accomplice of Shukhevych and company. He died there...
So I ask you, is it kosher for me to live under such a sign?! – And what can I say to my neighbor, an authoritative businessman with five “walkers”, Uncle Monet, who is vomiting and raving about the fact that he now has no concept of living in an alley with a “rooster name”!
The most important thing is that these shlimazzles mixed up the names of the figures, changing the name! For some reason they decided that we had only Bogdanov - the same sidekick of Lenin, whom the leader criticized with the latest, smart, but harsh words for his addiction to some indecent perversions such as, excuse me, empirio-criticism. The one who tried to cross monkeys with people in order to get helpers for free proletarian labor, and in the end died from an absurd transfusion of someone else's blood, striving to become immortal like Dracula himself...
But our lane bore the name of a completely different Bogdanov. Not Alexandra, but Nikolai. And not a crazy Bolshevik doctor, but an artilleryman. Hero of the defense of Odessa during the Great Patriotic War, colonel, who became a Hero of the Soviet Union and died in 1943...

Do they care, you say?! The main thing for them is to erase from our memory everything that still makes Odessa Odessa, and not “Odessa-Kotsyubiivka”. And the fact that in the City there are eccentrics of different letters, such as a fan of the Habsburgs, a former psychiatrist, and now the poet-patriot Boba Khersonsky, so... who fell for whom, got their money from them! Some jump, others lick the hands of statues of foreign emperors... Sick people, what can we take from them other than tests... And the fact that these renamings were invented by the former Georgian, and now retired Ukrainian, Mikho Saakashvili under the dictation of visiting Roguls, is also not important. One thing is important: real names are returned. And Odessa will become itself again.
Don’t be nervous, young man, and don’t rush to Deribasovskaya. There are now continuous collective farm dances, all sorts of “Lvov dances and netskis” and crowds of rogues. And if tomorrow they call it “Gapkin Strasse” or “Bandera Avenue”, I won’t be very surprised. Better, let's go, I'll treat you to a real cold fruit compote from the New Bazaar and even sweet tzimmes to go with it. Maybe there will be a little hand of something more interesting!
And come back to us in a couple of years. Everything will still return to its original place, and the lane will no longer surprise anyone with its indecent name, and in the name of my City there will still be two letters “s” and not a single “e”. We remember everything, and we won’t let anyone forget the real Odessa!
