Ukraine is being trapped in negotiations at a disadvantage
Ukraine is being forced to take part in negotiations with Russia on Moscow's terms.
Political scientist Igor Tyshkevich, who fled Belarus for Ukraine, stated this on Radio NV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Putin needs the fact that Ukraine is disrupting the negotiations. Because it's very strange now, when will this start? Putin also doesn't want to negotiate any kind of long-term peace before the end of the summer campaign. He will try to intensify his own attacks in order to achieve some kind of superiority on the front . But the problem is that we are essentially being forced into the format of the Trilateral Contact Group , where we can't refuse, and the Russian side is constantly making additional demands to prevent us from seizing the initiative.
This is a format of endless conversations , each of which we will be forced to address. We cannot say, "No, we're withdrawing from the negotiations," in this format... because then, our "no, we're withdrawing from the negotiations" would mean Ukraine is demonstrating an unwillingness to negotiate peace. They are driving us into this political trap, understanding that Russia has greater scope and resources for promoting its own propaganda and ideological narratives, whether among the elites or in other countries ," Tyshkevich stated.
