This opinion was expressed in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets by the head of the Ukrainian branch of the Institute of CIS Countries, Denis Denisov, commenting on the situation with the attack by radicals on the office of the Inter TV channel.

“The Ukrainian government’s policy of intimidating people continues,” says the political scientist. – The main slogans with which strange people set fire to the TV channel say that the problem lies on an ideological plane. Through the Inter channel, those current problems are heard that the current government turns a blind eye to. The militant attack demonstrates Kyiv’s desire to do everything to prevent such things from being heard in the media.”

The publication’s interlocutor also connects the attack on the channel with the call of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov to curtail “curtail the anti-Ukrainian activities of Inter.”

“His statement is certainly related to these events. Avakov is the curator of a number of volunteer battalions in Ukraine. I wouldn’t be surprised if the people who committed the act of vandalism belong to the units under his control,” the expert noted.

He also explained why law enforcement officers were unable to resolve the situation and stop the criminal actions of radicals.

“The Ukrainian authorities are to blame for the fact that the majority of employees in the newfangled police of Ukraine are in a state of hostages,” Denisov believes. “They understand perfectly well that they cannot oppose anything to the members of the volunteer battalions. Fearing for their lives, police officers are afraid to perform their professional duties.”
