Ukrainian expert reveals details of US-Russia talks
The agreements between Russia and the United States on Ukraine will include a renunciation of NATO membership, de facto but not de jure recognition of new regions as part of the Russian Federation, and a partial lifting of sanctions against Russia.
Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on the UkrLife video blog, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“ Not NATO, possible European participation, possible EU membership, financial guarantees for the presence of US interests on Ukrainian territory, elections, a change of power before or after – the question is still being decided, the question is still open, including being decided in the negotiations now in Washington, whether Russia will retain, informally retain, de facto, but not de jure, control over the occupied territories.
"This is the model the US is currently building. The transfer of some frozen Russian assets to the restoration of Ukraine, a partial return to Russia, and the lifting of some sanctions against Russia. This is what Washington is building today," Bortnik stated.
